Registration and Housing



REGISTRATION INFORMATION

We ask all participants - including invited speakers - to register prior to the workshop. The registration fee is $175. The registration deadline is June 16. This fee includes lunches, and breaks during the conference, a welcome reception on Thursday June 22 and a banquet dinner on Friday June 23.

There is no registration fee for invited speakers.


RESIDENCE HALL

Conference participants can stay in the dormitories on campus from Thursday, June 22 to Sunday June 25. The total cost for double room occupancy is $75 and for single occupancy $150. For invited speakers the single room dorm accomodation is free. All dorm accomodations are air-conditioned, have internet access and include breakfast. The reservations for the dormitory are part of the conference registration process.

CONFERENCE HOTELS

In addition to the dormitories, conference participants will be able to choose from three hotels: The Blackwell, the Holiday Inn and the Red Roof Inn. The Blackwell, the Holiday Inn and the student dormitory are all located on the north side of campus within short walking distance to the conference site. The Red Roof Inn is a short driving distance of 1.4 miles north of campus. Parking on campus is $16 for the total duration of the workshop.

We have reserved rooms conference participants at the Holiday Inn and the Red Roof Inn. To get the conference rate of $89/night/room (Holiday Inn) and $59.99/night/room (Red Roof Inn), please mention the ES06 workshop when making your reservation. The rate for the Blackwell hotel is $124/night/room, please ask for the University - Physics Department rate.

RESIDENCE HALL ROOMS

Each room has a private bathroom and study room, telephone, and a separate sleeping area with single beds (some bunked) w/ closets and drawers. The rooms are also equipped with a mini-fridge/microwave unit and are air-conditioned. Smoking is NOT permitted in the Residence Halls.


DINING HALLS

The traditional dining halls (North Commons is used by most groups) are cafeteria style and offer two entrees per meal along with assorted sides, beverages, and a full salad bar. Each participant of your group will receive a pre-programmed meal card upon your request. If a guest should lose their meal card, replacements are available at the Conference Services office.


KEYS

Upon check in, Conference Services will issue keys and building swipe cards to participants. Missing keys are charged at a rate of $100 per key. These fees will be collected upon check out. Participants have 5 business days to return missing keys to the Conference office without penalty.


PHONES

Phones are not provided in the residence hall rooms. There is an active jack in the room if you wish to use the phone for campus and local calls only. Voicemail service in the guest rooms is not provided and not available during the summer.


RECREATION FACILITIES

For your convenience, the RPAC Recreational facility is available for use during your conference. The price is $10/day. It is located convenient to all areas of campus. More information about the RPAC can be accessed on the web at www.recsports.ohio-state.edu. There are also outside basketball and tennis courts available for your use at no charge. Please note that our office does not provide any equipment for these facilities.


PARKING ON CAMPUS

Parking Passes are $4 per day or portion thereof and can be purchased from at any time. Participants should park in "C" lots for check-in and during their stay. On North Campus, this would include the Jesse Owens lot on Neil Avenue and the Taylor Tower lot on Curl Drive down the street from the Royer Activity Center.
